Longtime resident John Dwyer will be presenting his new book\, “From the ‘Front Porch’ to the ‘Back Patio’: Live and Living on ‘The North Side’ and… All Round Our Town\, 1930s\, 1940s\, 1950s.” Mr. Dwyer will share stories from the book of his time growing up in Batavia\, living through World War II\, and then going off to college at Notre Dame and serving in the Army before returning home. Seppala from the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum presents “Lost Parks: WNY Amusement Parks of the Past.” This presentation will give a brief history of parks that no longer exist including: Crystal Beach\, Page’s Whistlepig\, Dealing’s Rides and Boulder Park.\nIan K. Seppala is the Executive Director of the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum. Ian possesses a M.A. degree in Museum Studies and Historic Preservation from Morgan State University\, and has previous museum experience including Historic Ships in Baltimore and the Rochester Museum & Science Center.
