SUMMARY:Guest Speaker Series: Patrick Ryan\, "William Wells Brown"
DESCRIPTION:The Holland Land Office Museum is proud to announce the next edition of its Guest Speaker Series on Thursday\, February 16th at 7 pm. We welcome Patrick Ryan of the Buffalo History Museum as he presents on William Wells Brown\, Buffalo’s preeminent black abolitionist. Admission is $5/$3 for museum members. If you would like to attend\, please contact the museum at 585-343-4727 or hollandlandoffice@gmail.com. \nDid you know that another man by the name of William Wells Brown\, one with local connections to Buffalo\, followed a very similar trajectory to Douglass- an escaped slave turned author and orator. Today\, Brown may not be as recognizable\, but in the 1840s he was one of the major players in the abolitionist movement- attaining enough fame to form both a friendship and rivalry with Frederick Douglass.\nPatrick F Ryan works at The Buffalo History Museum where he serves as the Programs & Education Coordinator. An author on the Museum’s podcast and exhibits\, Patrick F Ryan is the outreach specialist at The Buffalo History Museum.
