This year we celebrate the 20th year of the Wonderland of Trees calling the Holland Land Office Museum. The event began at St. Jerome Hospital bewfore coming to the museum through the efforts of Helen Batchellor. The Wonderland of Trees has since grown and become a Christmas Season staple in Batavia and Genesee County. This year we kick off the event with our opening gala on Friday, November 19th.
Come and experience the 20th annual Wonderland of Trees, sponsored in part by Tompkins Bank of Castile and WBTA! The opening gala will occur on Friday, November 19th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the Holland Land Office Museum. This year’s theme to honor this milestone year is “Through the Years.” Visit the museum to see all the wonderfully decorated trees and displays by local businesses and organizations. This year’s opening gala will feature many great gift baskets to win, including an extra special grand basket. The night will also feature holiday music by the Genesee Symphony Orchestra and hors d’oeuvres provided by the D & R Depot. Tickets for this event are on sale at the museum. The Wonderland of Trees will run through the end of December. The basket raffle winners will be drawn Friday, December 17th. Further holiday events will also be held throughout the season. Also, this year we will be having three Friday evening performances by the Genesee Symphony Orchestra. Quartets of musicians from the orchestra will be performing holiday music on Friday, November 26th (brass quartet) and December 17th (flute quartet). Each concert is from 6:30-8:00 pm. Tickets are $5 and are limited to 20 people night. Contact the museum to reserve your spot.
Each year, hundreds of visitors come to the museum from November to January to view nearly fifty trees, festive pictures, and holiday displays decorated by local businesses and organizations. The Wonderland of Trees is not only great publicity, but a great way to give back to the community, support historical and education programming at the Holland Land Office Museum, and spread Holiday cheer to all!

Membership to the Holland Purchase Historical Society
As per our usual policy, not-for-profit organizations may participate in the Wonderland of Trees for $10; sponsorship for not-for-profits is optional, but will include the benefits listed above. All proceeds from the Wonderland of Trees help the Holland Land Office Museum with operating costs and funding educational programs for the public.
Are you uncertain about decorating a tree or a picture? There are many other ways to support this event: sponsorship’s will include all of the benefits listed above even if you choose not to decorate a tree. We will need trees to be set up, as well as donations, items, baskets, and gift certificates for our basket auction that will take place throughout November and December. Please consider the sponsorship level that works best for you. Tress can be decorated at the museum from October 26th until the opening night.
