Children's Program Covered Wagon At Home

Minimize

Covered Wagon At Home Project:

Materials:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Skill Sticks
  • Brown Paper Bag or scrap fabric
  • Cardboard
  • Hot Glue or Wood Glue

Step 1
Using your skill sticks create the bed of your wagon.
For this example we did 3 high all around.

Step 2
Using regular Popsicle sticks, create a frame by gluing four
of them together at the corners.

Step 3
After the corners dry, glue more sticks across the middle
to create a solid plank.  Then turn it over and apply
glue to the two bottom sticks.

Step 4
Set your wagon bed onto the glue and let it dry.

Step 5
Glue 4 sticks around the side of the wagon like posts.

Step 6
Cut a long rectangle from the paper bag or scrap fabric.

Step 7
Then glue the cover to the wagon.

Step 8
Take a small cup (we used a coffee cup) and trace the bottom 4 times onto the
cardboard.  Cut them out and punch a small hole in the center of each.

Step 9
Insert a stick into each of the wheels.  You can glue them
if you think they will fall out.

Step 10
Glue the sticks together to make the axle.
You will have two sets of wheels like this.

Step 11
Glue the axles to the bottom of the wagon. Make sure your
front and back are sitting evenly.  Adjust if you need too.

ALL DONE!
