Join John Fagant ( docent from Explore Buffalo) as he talks about Abolitionism in Buffalo 1843.  Mr. Fagant has written several articles concerning Buffalo & WNY history, including a book on Lincoln’s journeys through the region entitled The Best of the Bargain: Lincoln in Western New York. For the past 15 years, he has been involved as a volunteer for various organizations in the giving of tours & in training others to do so. Presently, he is involved with Explore Buffalo as a Chairman of the Docent Training Committee, the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor, and at Volunteer Literacy of WNY.
His talk will discuss how in August of 1843, Buffalo became the center of the national abolitionist movement.  Individuals such as Frederick Douglass, Henry Highland Garnet, Abby Kelly and Charles Lenox Remond spoke in churches, public buildings and the Park on their fight for the abolition of the slave.

The discussion will begin at 7 pm and will cost $3 per person or $2 per museum member.
