On Saturday, December 2, at noon, the Holland Land Office Museum will be hosting local resident and supporter Anne Marie Starowitz. Anne Marie will be discussing her new book entitled, Back in the Day, Snapshots of Local History, the Way I see it, which offers a collection of stories from Batavia's past. Anne Marie will also be signing copies of her book following the presentation. Copies of the book will be available for sale during the event and afterwards in the museum gift shop.
Back in the Day, Snapshots of Local History, the Way I see it, is a collection of more than 60 articles about Batavia’s early businesses, famous people, the military, schools, transportation, hotels, municipalities and my memories, the way I see them. These articles were written based on my interests, exhibits at the Holland Land Office Museum and my experiences growing up in Batavia, NY. They span more than ten years. They were written for the Holland Land Office Museum and were published monthly in The Daily News. I hope my words inform you, entertain you and encourage you to learn more about your local history wherever you were born.
For every book that is sold, $1.00 will be given to the families of veterans who suffer with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). I had the honor of meeting a group of veterans suffering from this disorder and they left an indelible mark in my heart.
Tickets for the event will be $3 per person. If you are interested in attending the event please contact the museum at 585-343-4727 or email@example.com
